"so healthy it hurts" granola

breakfast recipes, easy recipes, healthy recipesLauren HaslettComment

isn't all granola healthy, you ask?

well...it depends. a lot of granola recipes and packaged products out there are great! but there really is nothing like making it at home yourself—and knowing exactly what goes into it.

plus, granola is soooo easy! a quick mix in a bowl, less than an hour in the oven, and BOOM. your healthy homemade breakfast or snack is ready to go.

this granola is just as easy to make as any other, but it's absolutely loaded with good-for-you ingredients like matcha (green tea) powder, chia seeds, whole oats, and almonds...in fact, those are pretty much the only ingredients in it, aside from some coconut oil, honey, and agave. totally natural, naturally dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian (and easily made vegan, if you swap the honey for agave or sugar). also seriously tasty, this is a recipe i'll make over and over again to have on hand for portable snacks and breakfasts on the fly (which, with my totally insane schedule, is something i need to have at the ready ALWAYS, if i'm not going to resort to fast food, doughnuts, and lots of quick junk).

ingredients

1 cup whole oats
⅓ cup whole almonds (unseasoned, unroasted)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
½ teaspoon matcha (green tea) powder
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
¼ teaspoon sea salt
1 tablespoon honey (local if you can get it!)
2 teaspoons agave syrup
2 tablespoons coconut oil

how to do it:

  1. preheat oven to 300°f.
  2. combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir until thoroughly combined.
  3. spread granola out onto a sheet pan and bake at 300°f for about 40 minutes, or until toasted. let cool, break up any large clumps (if you so desire), and enjoy!
